Little Green Men

These little green men are part of the installation I mentioned visiting in last Friday’s post.

After the reunification of Eastern and Western Germany in 1990, a lot of Western German cities decided to adopt the pedestrian traffic lights indigenous to Eastern Germany.

Here in Western Germany our pedestrian lights are a generic red (for stop) and a green (for walk) figure of a man, whereas Eastern Germany had a more refined version of these figures, the green version of which is now shown in the above mentioned installation.

It was fun visiting the installation right in the middle of the main shopping area, you can walk around it or walk among the little green men.

    • Hallole!
