Friday Flowers

Today’s post is both a hello & a goodbye. A “hello Friday” and a “goodbye, I’ll see you sometime next month”.

This Friday feels special, because I’ve been counting the months, then weeks, and now the days until my vacation, which starts on Monday. Do you know that madness at work that only ever erupts in your last week before a vacation? Boy, am I glad that will be behind me as of this afternoon. The past week has been just as mad weather-wise.

We went from 28ºC to 14ºC within a day, and although I love a good thunderstorm, the temperature changes were hard to deal with, not only for myself apparently. Everyone around me kept complaining about headaches, getting a draught from driving with all the windows open while sweating, and the changes in air pressure were difficult to bear, too. Weather’s been back to high 20s again since yesterday, so that’s good.

I’ve also reached a personal goal this morning, which put me in an especially good mood. Now for a weekend of doing a lot of washing, then packing for Monday, when I’ll be leaving for Boston. I’ll be meeting two friends there, and then we’ll leave for a one week stay in Maine, then it’s back to the Boston area and we’ll take it day by day from there. Definitely a few trips to Boston, hopefully a trip to Vermont this time, a 4th of July party by the pool (the last time we were there it rained cats and dogs, so we’re hoping for sunshine this time around), and on our last day we have tickets for a country concert. The latter might not impress you, but here in Germany we don’t have a country music culture, so it’s a special treat for us to see a concert at a stadium.

If you’re wondering why today’s flowers are a diptych from the archives and not the usual Friday market flowers – I haven’t bought any in two weeks because there wasn’t anything nice to be found, so I didn’t take any pictures.

As usual, I’m hoping to bring back tons of pics from my vacation. I’ve decided to take my laptop with me, because somehow the thought of not being able to download three weeks’ worth of pictures, and – God forbid – the chance of losing them on my SD card worries me. So maybe I’ll get a chance to post before my return.

Until then, have a great weekend!
