2017 May In Pictures

May. Quite an unpleasant month for me personally except for my London visit, so let’s just leave it at that and hope for better luck in June.

My May pictures consist mainly of said London visit – the highlight of the month for me -, although you wouldn’t know it as once again they turned out to be of mundane details mostly, and some food ones from around home.

2016 May In Pictures

May was a great month for us here in Germany with three short work weeks due to public holidays and some very hot summery days.

For me, personally, the month had its ups and downs. The downs were terrible hayfever like never before, a week at home with sinusitis, the urge to move because of inconsiderate noisy neighbours. On the up side, I let myself be persuaded that I needed an iPhone because of the 12MP camera, a renewed interest in photography, and despite my hayfever I’m happy to see the world around me go green and everything growing.

Having a good phone camera definitely helps with regards to taking more pictures, as it’s really inconvenient for me to carry my D300 in my handbag at all times, so even though buying an expensive mobile phone just for its camera to me is overly decadent, it seems worth it right now. I just need to remember to not only take pics in square format but regular format as well – as you can see if you open the gallery below, I kept forgetting to switch formats.

2015 May In Pictures

So here we are again, at the end of yet another month. Apart from my vacation and a few bank holidays, which got us long weekends, May brought us very mixed weather, from 28°C to 12°C, the whole spectrum of sun, wind and rain all in one day, and massive bouts of hay fever as everything (that I was allergic to) seemed to be blooming at once.

On the other hand, all the blooming made for great pictures. As you can see, this month’s gallery is finally one that has more flower than food pics. Photography-wise, I’ve been trying out a friend’s 18-200 mm lens (which I’ll be using for a bit longer), and I’ve also made a point of using my 105 mm macro lens again, especially on the flowers.

No photo outings this month, and I haven’t taken the camera outside even once (apart from when I was on vacation). I’m hoping to rectify that next month…

So, nothing spectacular’s been happening here but, thankfully, nothing to complain about either.

2014 May In Pictures

What can I say – as did the months before, May came and went so quickly. Weather-wise we had the whole spectrum covered, everything from beautiful days, hot days, rainy days, storm and hail. Today the month ended on a high, though, with fantastic weather and a visit to the botanical gardens, where hopefully I gathered enough photographic material for future Friday Flowers posts.

Photography-wise May was the most interesting month for me so far this year, even though my month in pics seems to be full – again – of mundane things. I really had fun, though, especially trying out my friend’s 50 mm lens.

I also went on a business trip to Munich, declined participating in a gala dinner and opted to take the tram into the city instead. The plan was to get off the tram at every station, go out and take some pictures, then hop on the next train. This could have made for an interesting outing because I had absolutely no idea what would await me once I got above ground. However, after only four stations I realised it was rush hour, it was hot, I couldn’t be bothered.

So I got back on the tram and went to the city center to do some shopping. The funny thing is, when I walk around my home town with my camera, I feel weird. When I do the same thing in a different city, I don’t mind at all. I wonder why that is. Does anyone feel the same?
