Friday Flowers

ff-jubilee-bouquet

Hello & Happy Friday! I’m a little late posting today, because I got this bouquet late last night and it was too late to take pictures when I arrived home with it, so it had to wait until after work today.

I was invited to a company anniversary dinner last night where we were served great food, everyone celebrating their anniversary received a voucher for a big local store, and us ladies also received flowers on leaving.

It was amazing to see how long some people have been with the company, and I myself never thought I’d stick it out that long…

Plans for the weekend? As tomorrow is supposed to be a cool and cloudy day, it’s just as well I have indoor plans – a friend and I will be taking a bread making course, and we’re very much looking forward to that. I’ve made bread at home before, but there’s always more to learn I think, a few tips and tricks wouldn’t go amiss.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

FF - Allium

Happy Friday! Today’s allium flower was on its last legs when I took this picture – I’d already plucked some of the blossoms for my Beauty In Decay series when I remembered to take a picture of it… oops.

Plans for the weekend? None so far. We’ve been having lots of afternoon, evening and night rain this week, today looks a bit dull as well, but I’m told we’ll be having another scorcher of a weekend. I guess I’ll wing it then, just see what I feel like doing.

I know there are a few fields around where I live that are now full of those round hay bales I always try to capture and miss every year, so I might have a drive and see if I can get a few pictures in.

Also, I’ve seen great nature pictures with back light and was wondering why I’ve hardly ever tried that. So that’s another thing I might check out this weekend.

Hope you have nice plans and good weather!

FF - Plucked Peonies

Happy Friday, everone! We’re having another long weekend here in Germany – the last one for a long while – due to yesterday being Corpus Christi. Today started out quite hot, then just when I left the market an hour ago it started to pour down, but it’s currently clearing up again.

Today’s flowers are really part of the Beauty In Decay series, but I managed so many nice shots that are better suited for the series, and this one came out so incredibly colourful that it qualified for Friday Flowers.

The two peonies I posted last week had started to brown around the edges, and the moment I cut off the blossoms they started to fall apart and show their beautiful insides.

What is everyone up to this weekend? I think several countries have bank holidays and, hence, long weekends. I have a photo challenge/collaboration to complete within the next two days, and apart from that there’s a festival in the city so I might go and check that out.

Enjoy your weekend!

FF - White Rununcs in bottles

Good morning! Although I’m still in search of the “good” part 😉 . It’s going to be a long weekend for us here, with Whit Monday off work, but sadly the weather forecast says it’s going to keep raining. We’ve had 25ºC for four days last week, hot and summery, so this is quite a change for the worse.

We’ll have to make the best of it, though, I’m still planning on some photo activities and a bit of a cook-athon. Possibly a bit of a clean-athon as well because while having been unexpectedly invited for a Ramazzotti by two of my older neighbour ladies, the alcohol went straight to my head and I said they should come round for coffee one of these days. We’ll see how that goes.

I’m sure for a lot of you Monday will also be a holiday, so I hope you’ll all have a great weekend!

Beauty In Decay – A Preview Post

Remember the fringed gerbera I posted last month? Those delicate things didn’t keep for long as the woman at the flower stall insisted they didn’t need florist’s wire to stay upright. Two days later they hung their heads, as you can see below. So I cut them fairly short and put them in votive candle holders.

From that point on the summer heat wave did its best to send them on their way to their decline. At some point I realised I hadn’t looked at them for a few days, and oh my… you wouldn’t have recognised the things. Each of their parts was unrecognisable, but not in a bad way. My first thought was Beauty In Decay, so I spread the parts out on a white wooden surface as best I could, because it all fell apart in my hands.

It was the most beautiful mess of flower remains I’ve ever seen, from colourful pieces to ethereal. I tried to capture every single part, so I’ll be posting each one separately over the next few weeks.
